Thanks to the continental climate and the proximity of the Tyrrhenian coast, this area benefits all year round from very favorable conditions for outdoor activities. The whole surrounding area is crossed by a vast network of footpaths and mule tracks, ancient carriageways and dirt roads, which offer many opportunities to explore this area on foot or by mountain bike. Routes are equipped with CAI signs, to explore and learn more about the environment.

Cima alla Serra is at the center of an area rich in opportunities for great cultural experiences. From the Bocelli Concert at the Teatro del Silenzio, the splendid setting of the Lajatico hills (27 and 29 July 2023) to the Puccini Festival, the most important opera festival in Italy, which takes place from 14 July to 26 August in the large theater open to shores of Lake Massaciuccoli; from the Lucca Summer Festival, which every year since 1998 has brought the greatest artists of the international pop, rock and jazz scene, to Lucca Comics & Games (1-5 November 2023), the multidisciplinary festival that explores the convergence of contemporary languages – from comics to games and video games but also cinema, TV and illustration. But the cultural events that can be accessed from Cima alla Serra are also linked to the closest local traditions, such as the Maggio di Buti, a costume show in sung verses, linked to a tradition that dates back to the 15th century. The city of Pisa offers even more opportunities to discover the ancient local popular traditions, such as the Pisan June in which San Ranieri, patron saint of the city, is celebrated, to whom the Luminara and the Historical Regatta (16-17 June) are dedicated. The Gioco del Ponte takes place on the last Saturday in June, a historical re-enactment set on the Ponte di Mezzo, preceded by the Historical Parade on the Arno River. Furthermore, every four years, Pisa hosts the Historical Regatta of the Maritime Republics (Pisa, Amalfi, Genoa and Venice). But the most representative and spectacular Pisan event is undoubtedly the Pisan New Year (March 25), which celebrates the beginning of the year according to the ancient Pisan calendar, involving the entire citizenry with historical processions and ceremonies.
